Title: Training of trainers in Cyprus

The Agroplan Training of trainers in Cyprus took place in Nicosia the 23rd of April 2005.

The team of seven trainers who attended the training workshop consisted of agronomists working in the extension service of the Department of Agriculture, research and extension officers working at the Agricultural Research Institute as well as agronomists working as consultants in the private sector.

The areas of expertise for these agronomists ranged widely including among others: plant pathology, consulting services to producers organizations, inspecting incoming and outgoing agricultural produce at the ports of entry, quality assurance and handling of agricultural produce and managing greenhouse operations. Overall, the training material seemed as a very useful body of reference material to the trainers.

The method employed to deliver this material at the workshop was very effective as it focused on case studies. Thus the interest of the trainees (trainers) was sustained throughout the workshop and the principles outlaid in the training material were exemplified in a concrete fashion through the presentation of case studies
